Murder At Room 7, Keelung City (1957) was based on a major criminal case when
Taiwan was under Japanese rule. The original story was the 1934 tragedy in which a civil servant of the Transportation Bureau of the Governor-General of Taiwan and his concubine conspired to kill his wife, mutilate and abandon the corpse, and the criminal's repentance before the execution.
The film was directed by the well-known photographer Zhuang Guojun, written by Hong Xinde, and filmed by the Taichung Studio of the Central Motion Pictures Corporation. It premiered on July 13, 1957 at the Daguan and Daguangming theaters in Taipei City. The runnung period lasted two weeks, and became a box office hit.
